Although there is no official record in the USL’s Premier Development League (PDL) for the fastest goal, Jordan Ayris of Forest City London has created one.
Caught on video and timed at 22 seconds from kickoff to the ball crossing the line, Jordan Ayris scored the first of 4 goals in a game on June 7th, versus River City Rovers at the Cove Rd. field in London, Ontario CANADA.
From the kickoff, River City Rovers defense were pressured, sending the ball back to their keeper for a clearance which was captured by a London player just short of midfield. After a passing play that included FC LONDON captain Tom Owens and midfielder Brandon Beresford, the ball was played to attacking defender Beau Johnson who took the ball the corner and stuck a flat ball cross to the foot of Jordan Ayris.
“It was a great way to start the game, and I’ve always had patience in front of the net.” Says Ayris, who was born in England and plays at Fairfield University in the US. “When you’ve got support from midfield and crosses coming from attacking defenders, it makes it easy to put it away.”
Forest City London Soccer Club (FC LONDON) sit atop the Great Lakes Division of the USL- PDL league this year, and captured the North American Championship title in 2012.
